Canalipalpata

Canalipalpata is an order of sedentary polychaete worms distinguished by their specialized grooved palps, which form elaborate, colorful feeding crowns designed to filter plankton and suspended organic matter from seawater. These marine annelids anchor themselves inside calcareous, parchment, or sand-grained tubes built into coral heads, rock fissures, and benthic sediment across ocean habitats worldwide.
