Long-Arm Octopus Eye-Level Frontal View on Volcanic Sand in Bali

A high-magnification macro underwater photograph captures an eye-level, frontal perspective of a small long-arm octopus (Abdopus or Macrotritopus species, such as Abdopus aculeatus) perched on a dark volcanic sand seabed in Bali. Positioned centrally, the cephalopod raises its small, highly spiky mantle covered in distinct white and olive-brown dermal papillae. Its prominent, V-shaped elevated eye stalks feature reflective golden irises that look directly toward the camera. Surrounding the head, eight long, slender arms ripple across the dark volcanic substrate, exposing delicate pale purple and white suckers along their undersides. The dark sediment is composed of coarse basalt granules and tiny multi-colored mineral flecks. A shallow depth of field pins sharp focus on the raised eye stalks and mantle papillae, while the arm tips and background sediment gently fade into soft focus. Ideal for cephalopod vision studies, dermal papillae morphology guides, marine biology textbooks, and professional nature stock media.
